The National Announces All-Star Lineup For Their Grateful Dead Tribute Project

Music News Grateful Dead

The National announced today that their long-awaited Day of the Dead, a massive Grateful Dead tribute in the works for several years, will be released on May 20 via 4AD. It’s a charity project for Red Hot, an organization dedicated to HIV/AIDS awareness and research, and it features an absolutely breathtaking array of artists over the course of its 59 tracks.

Curated by Aaron and Bryce Dessner, Day of the Dead includes contributions from The War On Drugs, Courtney Barnett, Wilco, Jenny Lewis, Justin Vernon, The Lone Bellow, and, of course, The National themselves, among many others. You can check out the full track list and impressive collection of contributors here.

The National itself will be playing a string of shows this summer, as well as contributing to Global Citizen’s crowdsourced album Metamorphoses.
