Prince Was Hospitalized Last Night After An Emergency Landing

Music News

Prince was rushed to the hospital early Friday as a result of ongoing flu symptoms. He has since been released and is now recuperating at home, a rep for the artist told TMZ.

Flying out of Atlanta after playing back-to-back shows, Prince’s condition worsened considerably in-flight. His plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Moline, Ill. around 1 a.m. local time. He was then rushed to the hospital in an ambulance, where he was treated and released three hours later.

The inimitable musician has been fighting the flu for weeks, which had caused him to postpone the Atlanta stop of his Piano & A Microphone Tour, originally scheduled for April 7. But Prince insisted on rescheduling quickly and toughing it out for last night’s excellent performance.

Conflicting reports had muddied the waters earlier this afternoon in regards to Prince’s condition, with some outlets claiming he was “not doing well” and others pointing to Twitter updates like this one as evidence of the artist’s well-being. Now, it appears that we can all breathe a sigh of relief.
