George H.W. Bush Says He’s Voting for Hillary Clinton

Politics News George H.W. Bush

Former President George H.W. Bush told Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, daughter of the late Robert F. Kennedy, that he will vote for Hillary Clinton in November, Politico first reported. Townsend made the announcement about Bush Sr.’s plans on Monday in a Facebook post including a picture of her shaking the former President’s hand with the caption, “The President told me he’s voting for Hillary!!”

Bush had remained silent about his voting plans since the beginning of the race, but it isn’t particularly surprising that he won’t support Trump, given that the Republican nominee bullied Jeb Bush relentlessly.

Bush isn’t the first prominent Republican to jump ship for the Clinton camp—members of both the Reagan and George W. Bush administrations have already announced their support for the Democratic nominee. But this is a big win for Clinton that may sway moderate Republicans away from voting for Trump, though it will likely have little effect on full-fledged Trump supporters.
