Amy Schumer Wrote an Open Letter to the Tampa Fans Who Walked Out On Her

Amy Schumer had some words prepared for the Tampa fans who walked out of her show over the weekend because of comments she made about presidential candidate Donald Trump.

“I’ve written an open letter to Tampa and I’d like to read it tonight,” Schumer said during her Tuesday night show at Madison Square Garden, according to People. “Dearest Tampa, I’m sorry you didn’t want me, a comedian who talks about what she believes in, to mention the biggest thing going on in our country right now.”

Schumer also made reference to the moment during Sunday’s show when she brought a Trump supporter up onstage to discuss their differing views. “How could I think it was OK to spend five minutes having a peaceful conversation with someone with different views?” Schumer asked.

Schumer wrapped up the letter by saying, “And, Tampa, I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have said that he was an orange, sexual-assaulting, fake-college-starting monster. Shouldn’t have said that. I will never again say that he is an orange, sexual-assaulting, fake-college-starting monster!”

In the face of the walkouts, Schumer continues to seem unfazed, suggesting publicly that she’s grateful to those who stayed for the rest of her show. The 35-year-old comedian has openly thrown her support behind Hillary Clinton, and seems to be unworried about any fans she may lose as a result.
