At the end of M. Night Shyamalan’s 2017 comeback film Split, Shyamalan gives a not-so-subtle hint that we’ll be hearing from James McAvoy’s Kevin Crumb character again, and that Unbreakable’s David Dunn (Bruce Willis) and Mr. Glass (Samuel L. Jackson) will be joining him.

Now, we know a little more about the new flick that the master of twists was tipping us off about at the end of his latest thriller. A sequel to both films is indeed happening, and it’s called … Glass. The film is slated for a Jan. 18, 2019 release and includes Willis’ Dunn, Jackson’s Mr. Glass, McAvoy’s Crumb and Anya Taylor-Joy’s Casey Cooke.

According to a series of tweets from Shyamalan, the script for Glass is already finished and the film is being produced by Blumhouse (who worked on Split) and Universal.

In that same tweetstorm, Shyamalan also stated that it was “Always my dream to have both films collide in this third film,” and now that dream is becoming reality.

When we last left Dunn and Mr. Glass in Unbreakable, Dunn helped send the secret “supervillain” to a institution for the criminally insane after finding out about his carefully orchestrated terrorist attacks. And in Split, Kevin Crumb had fully embraced his “Beast” personality at the end and was roaming the streets of Philadelphia alone. So it’s not exactly clear how Shyamalan is going to bring the two villains together, but one possibility is that Crumb helps break Mr. Glass out of the institution and the two team up to wreak havoc on the City of Brotherly Love before Cooke and Dunn stop them.

Stay tuned for more info on Glass, and find Shyamalan’s announcement tweets below.
