It’s Friday. We’re all tired. We’re ready for the weekend. It’s a holiday weekend for some of us, which means family obligations and other stuff we may or may not particularly want to do. Somehow we all have to dig deep and get through the rest of today and, possibly, the weekend.

If you need a little motivation to get through it, Glenn Tamplin is here to help. The manager (and owner) of Billericay Town, a nonleague club in Essex plying its trade in the Isthmian League Premier Division (the seventh tier of English football) delivered this, uh, energetic pre-match speech ahead of his side’s march out in the Final of the Alan Turvey Trophy. After instructing his players not to lose “one single [expletive] battle” in their crucial cup final against Tonbridge Angels, the squad huddled up and launched into a group singalong to R. Kelly’s “The World’s Greatest.”

No, I’m not kidding.

After the song Tamplin returned to hyping up his players and telling them to “[expletive] rip out the heart” of their opponents.

Nonleague football can be pretty intense, y’all.

Apparently Tamplin’s speech worked— Billericay smashed Tonbridge 8-3.
