Watch the New Trailer for Netflix’s Dear White People

Netflix has released the newest trailer for their forthcoming series adaptation of Dear White People—watch above.

It very quickly becomes evident that the series, like Justin Simien’s 2014 film version, isn’t pulling any punches when it comes to racism on college campuses. Written entirely by Simien, the 10-episode show follows a group of black students as they attend a predominately white Ivy League university. Every episode will feature a different cast member as they experience contemporary racism in ways that are sometimes funny, but mostly devastating. We’ll see the return of Brandon P. Bell as Troy Fairbanks, but the rest of the series’ cast is different from the film’s. The series will star Logan Browning (Brotherly Love), Antoinette Robertson (Hart of Dixie), Ashley Blaine Featherson (Paint It Black) and more.

In our current political and social climate, Dear White People might be exactly what we need. Unfortunately, many people seem to disagree—stay away from the YouTube comment section, if you want to maintain whatever’s left of your faith in humanity.

Dear White People is set to debut on Netflix later this month on April 28. You can watch the first trailer here, and don’t miss Paste’s review of the film version.
