Listen to CHVRCHES’ First New Single in Two Years, “Get Out”

On the heels of yesterday’s tease, CHVRCHES have released their first new single in two years.

The Scottish electro-pop trio worked with producer Greg Kurstin (Adele, Sia) on “Get Out.” Earlier this week, Kurstin won Producer of the Year at the Grammys for the second year running.

The band had this to say of their new single:

Working with Greg was so different to what we’d done before, but it also felt so comfortable and like he’d been in our band forever. He doesn’t try to make you write a certain kind of song. He just listens and then Jedi puppet masters the best work out of you. The opening synth riff of “Get Out” was the first thing to emerge on our first day in the studio with him.

“Get Out” itself is an anthem, the kind of synth-pop smash that uplifts and intoxicates audiences. Don’t just take our word for it, though—The National are fans of the track, as well, if the YouTube comment posted on “Get Out” and screenshotted below is any indication.

There’s still no official word on a new album from CHVRCHES, though we imagine those details are coming soon. The album will be their third, and their first since 2015’s Every Open Eye.

Mayberry described the band’s new album as follows in a December interview with EW:

When I listen to the record, I feel like it’s the most pop stuff we’ve done and also the most aggressive and vulnerable at the same time. It was about really leaning into those moments—and also wanting there to be a real humanity and character to what we’re saying.

CHVRCHES are set to perform at New York City’s Governors Ball in June. Fans can look forward to experiencing the band’s new material in person.
