Sony to Relaunch PlayStation "Home" Service

Sony announced today that the ambitious social networking hub for the PlayStation Network, "Home", will be getting a complete makeover in the Fall. "Home", which allows users to make an avatar and hang out in the social world. According to IGN, while the company has previously strongly encouraged people to use the service, they are now admitting that they made some mistakes in regard to the service. It turns out gamers aren't the most social people around and you have to give them something to do.  read more

Gamescom, the biggest video game event of Europe, is just kicking off today and has already been full of big announcements by the major players of the industry. Still looking to bounce back from the frustration of their network failures earlier this year, Sony announced both a PlayStation 3 price drop and a PSP rerelease yesterday. Effective immediately, all models of the PlayStation 3 will receive $50 price drops, bringing the 160GB model down to $249 and the 320GB model to $299.  read more
