Catching Up With... Alejandro Escovedo

Beth Orton extends Comfort of Strangers tour
Beth Orton’s 2006 album Comfort of Strangers was the hastily pulled together result of her work of just one week with Sonic Youth collaborator Jim O’Rourke. O’Rourke also appears on the album playing bass, piano and marimba. Orton plans to bring her acoustic tour to North America in support of the album and has just recently added more dates to the summer stint which kicks off in Boston. Throughout, Orton will... read more

The Cool Kids to tour, release EP
Only four or five years ago, it may have seemed a little silly to write up a news item on an indie hip-hop group out of Chicago that hasn't even released a proper LP to date. Now, thanks to the wonders of the interwebs (and, yes, because their music is insanely catchy), The Cool Kids not only garner national recognition, they're... read more

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young doc hits U.S. theatres in July
CSNY doesn’t always stand for Crime Scene: New York, or any other might-be primetime television murder-drama. In this case, in fact, it stands for four gentlemen as far on the other side of the spectrum as one can get: beloved peace activists and musicians, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. The latter of these men, Neil Young (who now officially has a spider named after him?!?) has produced a documentary entitled CSNY - Déjà Vu. Yes, it shares its name with the second CSNY album, and yes, it shares some similarities. Déjà Vu the first time focused on anti-Vietnam sentiments, and... read more
