Will Oldham Stars in Old Joy
Director Kelly Reichardt will debut a new film, Old Joy at this year's Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 20. The film, which stars musician Will Oldham (aka Bonnie "Prince" Billy), was co-produced by Todd Haynes (dir. Velvet Goldmine) and features a soundtrack provided by Yo La Tengo. Oldham and Daniel London (Rent) play two friends who spend a weekend camping near Portland, Ore., confronting their past decisions and the different paths they've taken in life. Kelly Reichardt first hit the independent film scene in 1994 with her critically acclaimed film, River of Grass. Old Joy is her fourth directorial outing.... read more
A Tribute To The Boss
Bruce Springsteen was honored at the launch of the New York Guitar Festival this week. A free gala concert, held Jan. 14 under the World Financial Center Winter Garden's glass atrium, paid tribute to The Boss’ 1982 album, Nebraska. Entitled The Nebraska Project, this 25th anniversary celebration featured a distinctive roster of singer/songwriters, bands and instrumentalists who performed their own personalized renditions of songs from the record.
