Californication Review: "Lawyers, Guns and Money" (Episode 4.06)
In last week’s episode, “Freeze Frame,” viewers were left with a parting image of Sasha and Mia’s hands down Hank’s unzipped pants. An L.A. partygoer captured that moment on camera, sharing it across the Internet. After Hank seemed in the clear with a plea bargain lined, the writer could not have messed up at a more inopportune time. As Season 4 continues, it’s baffling how often Hank gets himself in dire straits. Hank’s tragic flaws are the heart of the show, but it’s increasingly difficult to watch him mess up time and time again.... read more
Apple Reveals Subscription Service for Apps
Apple has revealed plans for a subscription service for apps. “All we require is that, if a publisher is making a subscription offer outside of the app, the same (or better) offer be made inside the app,” Steve Jobs said in a statement, "so that customers can easily subscribe with one-click right in the app.”... read more

Ricky Gervais Show Review: "Insects" (2.5)
Whatever else it may have been, “Insects” was the single most focused episode of The Ricky Gervais Show thus far. The title is a little bit of a misnomer, although certainly the episode spends a fair amount of time focused on various weird facts (or “facts”) about them. No, it’s an episode that’s entirely devoted to animals straight through, with never more than 30 seconds between two mentions of different animals. One of my favorite things about Community is the sheer number of unique episodes the show’s had already in less than two seasons. Last week’s episode was one of those, re-framing the entire show within the world of a fantasy game, but that still leaves us the rest of the episodes. Comedy Central Greenlights Norm MacDonald Sports Show
Comedy Central has greenlit Sports Show with Norm MacDonald, in which the former Saturday Night Live star will humorously cover real-life sports stories. Unlike The Onion’s SportsDome, which invents sports stories, MacDonald will cover actual news in front of a live, studio audience in much the same way as The Daily Show and Colbert Report. Comedy Central has ordered eight episodes, the first of which will premiere in April. Production begins this month.... read more

Skins Review: "Cadie" (Episode 1.04)
Skins took another dip down with the fourth episode “Cadie.” So far, the series has been struggling to really find it’s footing. The premiere episode was pretty disappointing, but one week later the show showed a wealth of potential with a character unique to the American version. Last week’s episode “Chris” was pretty much a a rehash of its British counterpart, but still managed to remain fresh and entertaining. However, it seems that Skins has slipped once again in the most recent episode about an emotionally-damaged young girl and her struggle to find a place in the world.... read more

So far in Season 4 of Californication, the show has taken a nosedive away from its strong suits, opting more for shock value instead of the character and plot development so pivotal throughout the show’s first three seasons. Last week’s episode “Monkey Business” hit a low point for the show, with a bizarre introduction to Fucking and Punching’s principal financier, weird monkey scenarios and a trite Queens of Dogtown subplot.... read more
