Joaquin Phoenix Atlanta rap gig not actually happening
Paste, along with various denizens of the general public, has recently puzzled over the odd behavior of Joaquin Phoenix. The Oscar-nominated actor seemingly turned his back on his profession, vowing to never act again and instead to devote himself to the vagabond lifestyle of a musician (a rapper, at that). Our coverage of his awkward (drug-induced? staged?) minutes on David Letterman still clings doggedly to our most-read list weeks later. That's why a MySpace bulletin that arrived earlier today stating in bold letters that "Joaquin Phoenixx" [sic] would bring it to our doorstep, Paste's hometown of Atlanta, tonight at 10... read more

Hasbro's at it again, with another project aiding its quest to flood the box office with board-game movies. (You might say they have a Monopoly on that particular market. Zing!) David Lynch joins Twitter
The great thing about David Lynch is that whenever you think that something's too weird, even for him, he sets out to prove you wrong. Sometimes this comes out in his movies. You think to yourself, "That Lynch guy's pretty strange, but not even he would make a studio sitcom starring surreal, non-speaking bunny rabbits." Then you enter the theater and there they are, freaking you out in ways too difficult to explain. It's a patented David Lynch Momentâ„¢.... read more
Classic-series Battlestar Galactica movie possibly on the way
Star Wars and the original Battlestar Galactica have more in common than you might realize. When ABC produced the show in the late 1970s, they brought on George Lucas' Industrial Light and Magic crew (though they weren't called that at the time) to run special effects. Lucas agreed, but only on the stipulation that none of Star Wars' special effects be used. Things didn't work out as planned and, after a slew of lawsuits, Galactica never really recovered. We probably should be thankful; had Galactica been a smash success, it might not have been rebooted into one of the smartest... read more
Andy Richter rejoins Conan O'Brien on The Tonight Show
The last few weeks of Late Night with Conan O'Brien was a trip down memory lane for old fans, which featured clips of many Conan's greatest moments interspersed with some of the strongest comedy bits and guests in its history. But for longtime fans it was a little bittersweet, as almost all of these were Conan alone, to the point where his chubby sidekick from the early days Andy Richter was edited out. On his final show, though, Conan's last non-musical guest was his old friend, and clips suddenly included some of the funniest bits with both of them.... read more

The Green Hornet was floundering. Despite its blockbuster star, Seth Rogen, the film was stuck in development hell. Finally, the film was assumed canceled, or at the very least, unlikely to be made until a decade later with a totally different cast and crew. Now, Variety has announced that the project is saved, with a release date set at June 25, 2010. What's more, the only surprise bigger than the film's resurrection is the news that Michel Gondry, the lo-fi auteur behind Eternal Sunshine of... read more
