The Damnwells Release Sophomore Album On New Label
The Damnwells have come a long way since their first album, Bastards of the Beat — specifically, from recording music in a mini-storage unit in Manhattan to using an actual studio. Their latest release, Air Stereo, hits stores Aug. 15 and marks the band’s jump from Epic to Zöe/Rounder Records. Air Stereo borrows from The Damnwells’ poppy, alt-country sound while incorporating the new additions of piano, horns, strings and several guest artists, including Ollabelle’s Amy Helm and Fiona McBain. Benefit Concert Planned For Love’s Arthur Lee
A group of musicians will perform a benefit concert for rock legend Arthur Lee at New York's Beacon Theater on June 23. The Love frontman was diagnosed last February with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML), and has no medical insurance. Lee may soon have to undergo a bone marrow transplant. The benefit, We’re Doing It For Love, will attempt to raise money to cover Lee’s $100,000 in medical expenses.
