Jay Farrar to Record New Son Volt Album in April
Jay Farrar will begin recording a new Son Volt album this April for Sony Legacy, the artist's management confirmed. The album is scheduled for a spring 2007 release. David Gilmour Releases Eco-Friendly Solo Album
Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour will released his third solo album, On An Island, in the U.S. on Columbia Records March 7. The record is Columbia Records' first to use the eco-friendly CarbonNuetral technology, which attempts to restore the natural carbon-dioxide balance in the atmosphere by using environmentally friendly manufacturing. Paul Simon Works With Brian Eno On New Album
Folk-pop icon Paul Simon will release a new album, Surprise, on May 9. It'll be his first new album since 2000's You're The One. Produced in collaboration with Brian Eno (Talking Heads, U2), Surprise will feature guest appearances by Herbie Hancock, Steve Gadd and Bill Frisell. The record was mixed by Tchad Blake, who has worked with Tom Waits, Los Lobos and Phish. Simon is scheduled to appear on Saturday Night Live on May 13, and tour plans are in the works. ... read more
Langerado Music Festival Kicks Off 2006 Festival Season
Last weekend’s Langerado Music Festival in South Florida kicked off the 2006 festival season. Festival-attendees were treated to live performaces by almost fifty acts including Ben Harper, the Black Crowes, The Flaming Lips, Wilco, and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. In addition to the festivities, patrons at Langerado collected over 2,500 lbs of food to benefit victims of the 2005 hurricane season in a food drive sponsored by the Conscious Alliance. ... read more
