Elvis Costello Gets Busy

He penned The Secret Arias, an opera based on the life of Hans Christian Anderson and his love for Swedish soprano Jenny Lind, which debuted Oct. 8 at the Copenhagen Opera House. Costello has two lead roles in the opera. Rock & Roll Cruise headlined by Dave Matthews and Friends
Here's hoping the Sovereign of the Seas and the Majesty of the Seas are ready to rock. On Feb. 3, the two Royal Caribbean cruise ships will set sail from Miami and Cape Canaveral respectively and head toward the Bahamas for an intimate, exclusive concert. White House issues ultimatum to The Onion
According to a Reuters report, the White House isn't laughing at The Onion. In fact, it has asked the spoof newspaper to stop using the presidential seal on its Web site. White House spokesperson Troy Duffy said the request was simply a matter of regulations. "When any official sign or seal is being used inappropriately the party is notified," he said. "You cannot pick and choose where to enforce that rule. It's important that the seal or any White House insignia not be used inappropriately." Victoria Williams and Mark Olson closed the inaugural PASTE Rock 'n' Reel festival with their first show together in over a year. For their opening song, they welcomed fellow festival-performer and guitarist Buddy Miller to the stage, and brought Howe Gelb (of Giant Sand) up for a duet with Williams on "Moon River." Bassist Zak Sally has quit Low. Matt Livingston, who has performed with Low in the past in addition to frontman Alan Sparhawk's side project, Retribution Gospel Choir, will replace Sally.
