Mudhoney recording new album
Seattle elder statesmen Mudhoney are in the process of recording a new album for long-time label Sub Pop. Currently, the new project is without title and is tentatively scheduled for an early-2006 release. Production duties will be split between Phil Ek (Modest Mouse, The Shins), Johnny Sangster (The Posies, Young Fresh Fellows) and Tucker Martine (Jesse Sykes, Steve Turner). Soul pioneer dies at 69
Soul pioneer Bill Moss has died at the age of 69. His work as a producer and record entrepreneur over the years gained him a wide audience and much critical acclaim within soul and R&B communities. The master tapes from Moss’s Capsoul label were destroyed in a flood, and the few vinyl copies that remained intact were remastered by The Numero Group and released as Eccentric Soul: The Capsoul Label in 2004. Blues legend Little Milton, 1934-2005
Yesterday morning at Delta Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn., blues legend "Little" Milton Campbell, 71, passed away. The cause of death was listed as a cerebral hemorrhage that stemmed from a stroke Campbell suffered July 27. Campbell leaves behind his wife, Pat, and three children. Jonathan Demme to direct Neil Young concert film
Neil Young will film a pair of concerts at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium on Aug. 18-19, an event that will include performances by special guests including Emmylou Harris, Wayne Jackson of the Memphis Horns, the Fisk University Jubilee Singers and Carl Gorodetsky and the Nashville String Machine. The Austin Film Society has announced that Quentin Tarantino will return to Austin host “QT 6,” a nine-day film festival of movies hand-selected by the director, beginning Sep. 9. More than 20 films will be screened as part of the event, to be held at Alamo Drafthouse downtown. Jeff Mangum makes triumphant return to the stage
