Day two of the Hangout Festival in Gulf Shores, Ala. featured stellar sets from the likes of Dr. Dog, Randy Newman, Gogol Bordello and Red Hot Chili Peppers among others. Newman in particular proved that even a half-century into his career, he’s still got the chops to win over a crowd, delivering some charming banter between songs and shining on favorites like “Short People,” “Louisiana 1927,” the Toy Story hit “You’ve Got A Friend in Me,” and “Birmingham”—which elicited a particularly warm ovation from the Alabama crowd. Dubstep hero Skrillex drew one of the largest crowds of the day, as hordes of people turned up to take in his afternoon set at the X-Box Stage. Be sure to check out photos from day two by Mark C. Austin in the gallery below, and stay tuned for a recap of all of day three’s action tomorrow.
