There have always been formulas for TV crime dramas, but we couldn’t help noticing a new solution bubbling up in the past few years: Take an agent, maybe from the FBI or CIA. Partner that agent with a civilian consultant with powers from another world and no formal law-enforcement education. Add chemistry, shake it up and poof—you’ve got a hit crime drama.
