I'm happy to watch people start taking notice of this band. I saw them live and thought they were great, but it wasnt until someone made me pay attention to the lyrics that I really fell for them. The songs deserve way more than being written off as derivative on one listen. They're way more than just another post-punk band too... we all know that's a label too many careless bands ascribe themselves.
Though I love post-punk, I have to say this album is terribly derivative. I'd rather listen to The Sound, Comsat Angels, or The Chameleons.
The tunes on this album are very standard post-punk fare, with some Asylum Party-like melodies as well... but it's all very "been there, done that."
I love this genre, but this is all very standard "this genre I love."
Keep the personal personal. See you at Wierd, jerk.
