How Brandi Carlile Saved My Daughters From…
It's sort of curious, listening to the orchestral warmup sounds at the beginning -- not usually part of a recording.
This orchestra does do a great job with this piece: rich, beautiful backup sounds.
The soloist, on the other hand, is not really to my taste. Her voice is powerful and expressive, but not beautiful -- at least not to me. There is more to being a great singer than merely being powerful.
Her speaking voice also sound a bit hoarse, as if she's damaged it by screaming.
So glad to finally have a live version of Pride and Joy since it is so much more powerful this way. This version of Hallelujah is amazing! Now we need a live DVD!
