The Postelles’ story is truly a fairy tale gone wrong, then made right again. These old high school friends were signed to Capitol Records back in fall of 2008 after being discovered by Strokes’ guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. A year later, the group was unfortunately dropped by their label after recording an album. Since then, the band regrouped and signed to another label—returning with a collection of brand new songs. Fresh off the release of their self-titled debut record, the New York rockers have released yet another track. This cover of Smith’s song “Ask” turns back time, giving the ‘80s song a beachy ‘60s rock feel.
The Postelles’ cover comes off of their forthcoming Summer Undercovers release. The EP will be available for free on July 19th, but you can listen and download “Ask” via the widget below.
