Album Stream: Brown Bird - Salt For Salt

Although you might not know it, Brown Bird’s been making honest-to-goodness bluegrass/folk music before acts like the Mumford & Sons ever picked up a banjo. Salt For Salt is the multi-instrumentalist duo’s fifth full length album and it certainly shows. While these two veteran folk musicians have always played off each other like pros, Salt For Salt is Brown Bird’s first attempt at earnestly capturing the raw energy and musicianship that the duo has always project at their live shows.

As a result of the live recording style of Salt For Salt, the result is an album that doesn’t lose any of its urgency or sound size due to its scaling down of arrangements. The more intimate instrumentation of MorganEve Swain’s string playing and frontman David Lamb’s guitars and percussion give the record a dark and eerie feel that’ll stick with you.
