The folk world has cabin fever. Bon Iver’s incubation period in his Wisconsin cabin may have caught on. Vermont Americana outfit Chamberlin have now coined the term “cabinize” as something entirely different. In defining the term “CA-bin-IZE,” Chamberlin refers to the act of taking a song with unique, modern elements and strips it down at their cabin, showing the strength of the song at its core."
Over the summer, Chamberlin recorded their own ‘cabinized’ rendition of Passion Pit’s “Little Secrets,” trading in sampling and a children’s choir for an acoustic guitar on the band’s hit song. Fans were given a chance to vote for the group to cover additional songs for their upcoming covers release. Now, the Cabin Covers EP is out and you can listen to the five-song effort in the player below.
