Album Stream: Various Artists - Wounded Warrior Compilation

In support of the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial and the CSRA Wounded Warrior Care Project, several Athens, Ga.-based artists have contributed tracks to a digital compilation helping both organizations.

The charity album features tracks from R.E.M., Brute (Widespread Panic featuring Vic Chesnutt), Dead Confederate, The Whigs and Futurebirds and was released today through the charity’s website in honor of Veterans Day. Proceeds raised from this compilation will be used for a planned memorial for disabled veterans in Washington, D.C. as well as the ongoing care of our returning servicemen and women.

The featured R.E.M. track is an exclusive live version of “Living Well is the Best Revenge,” the opening track from Accelerate. The project was inspired by the Dead Confederate single “Run From the Gun,” which was written about the cost war can have on the people involved in it.

The cover was designed by Charleston, S.C.-based Molly B. Right, which is titled “Holding Peace.” The project was sponsored by Creative Allies, Grooveshark.com, DC Shoes, Transmission Merch, Team Clermont and Right.
