Song Premiere: Harriet - "I Slept With All Your Mothers"

Alex Casnoff spent his past few years floating from band to band, spending time in both Dawes and PAPA. After playing a supporting role in both of those acts, the Los Angeles-based songwriter has finally decided to step out front with his new act Harriet.

“I finally feel like I can articulate what I’ve been feeling. I was the piano player in all these other people’s bands, and yet I never felt like a piano player,” Casnoff explains. “I always thought of myself as a writer, and there just came a point when I felt like I was ready.”

Harriet, which also includes Aaron Folb (bass), Henry Kwapis (drums) and Adam Gunther (guitar), will be releasing their debut EP Tell The Right Story on January 31. The release’s piano-driven opening track, “I Slept With All Your Mothers,” hints at some of Dawes’ more dynamic moments while capturing Casnoff’s own unique emotional delivery.

“It’s a song about the feelings that come with a break up… anger, guilt, nostalgia,” Casnoff says about the EP opening track..
