Song Premiere: Laura Gibson - "La Grande"

Laura Gibson’s forthcoming album La Grande draws its name from a northeastern Oregon town where she wrote this collection of songs. Gibson, a native Oregonian, found that La Grande inspired her, recalling a place which she describes as “people usually pass through on their way to somewhere else, but which contains a certain gravity, a curious energy.”

It’s a town similar to many of the places she’s passed through touring behind her last album Beast Of Seasons. Like her travels, La Grande curiously captures the richness of the places she’s visited as well as the people she’s encountered. Along the way, Gibson received help from the likes of Calexico’s Joey Burns, The Dodos’ Meric Long and Logan Kroeber and The Decemberists’ Nate Query and Jenny Conlee in creating what became her beautiful Barsuk debut.
