Video Premiere: Alela Diane - "The Wind"

The song “The Wind,” which sets the background for songwriter Alela Diane’s newest video, has some dark subject matter. The song was written in response to the murder of a friend of a friend.

“Following the incident – I had a series of dreams in which an organ was playing itself – or rather a spirit was playing it, I don’t know,” Diane said about the song. “Life is short and Death is a hard act to follow – that’s this song.”

And the video reflects that dark vibe. It was filmed in the lonely dunes of Florence, Ore. and features two characters that seem to be on the run from something. The song appears on this year’s Alela Diane & Wild Divine, which was produced by Nirvana, R.E.M. and Replacements producer/engineer Scott Litt.
