Nada Surf’s latest album The Stars are Indifferent to Astronomy is best summed up in its hooky, clean opener “Clear Eye Clouded Mind.”
It’s not that all the tracks are as hard hitting or heavy as the commanding album opener, but the idea’s the same in creating them: grab the audience with Matthew Caws’ great melodies and producer Chris Shaw’s clean production, but hold their interest with huge guitars and an airtight rhythm section.
Although the album, which is the band’s seventh in nearly two decades, isn’t available until Jan. 24, you can listen to it below. It includes highlights like the sentimental “Teenage Dreams” and the bouncing album closer “The Future.” You can read our review for The Stars are Indifferent to Astronomy here.
