Paul Brill will release his follow up to the electronic-heavy Harpooner on Jan. 17. with Breezy, which will be released on Scarlet Shame records.
The album is a layered, sonically diverse collection, so much so that you’d be surprised to learn that it was performed live. Well, that is, by Brill’s 12-piece working band, which includes members that have performed and recorded with the likes of Radiohead, David Bowie, Bjork and Wilco.
Breezy was mixed by Pat Dillet, who’s also worked with David Byrne, Brian Eno and Meat Puppets.
You don’t have to look further than the album’s title and opening track (“Sunny Guy”) to see that this marks a new, more-lighthearted phase for Brill, with most tracks feeling upbeat and even danceable.
