Kitchen Sessions: The Wooden Sky

Kitchen Sessions is a house concert and online video series based in Somerville, Mass. The name comes from a David Wax Museum lyric, “invite me into your kitchen.” Sure enough, David Wax Museum was the first band to play the Kitchen Sessions house almost two years ago. Over twenty break-out bands have since found their way to the sprawling historical building on Beacon St., encompassing many styles and genres.

Bands load into the kitchen, living room, on the porch or occasionally on the roof to play their hearts out for a small crowd of lucky fans and onlookers. At the very least it’s an intimate house show and video shoot. Often, the band settles in and it becomes a weekend-long event. And at its core, Kitchen Sessions is about the the sense of community surrounding great music and artists sharing a passion for doing what they love to do.

Watch The Wooden Sky perform “Take Me Out” on the front steps of the Kitchen Sessions house below.
