Live From CMJ: The Lighthouse and the Whaler

Published at 1:00 PM on February 24, 2012

The Lighthouse and the Whaler—it’s a Cleveland, Ohio band that was inspired by the epic theme of Moby Dick. The group was started by Michael LoPresti and Aaron Smith, adding additional members as well as hitting the studio with the help of a Kickstarter campaign. Ryan Hadlock, who recorded and engineered The Strokes and Ra Ra Riot, has helped the band evolved, finding a new sound that leans on layered instrumentation while still keeping its folk roots on the album This Is An Adventure.

Watch The Lighthouse and the Whaler perform seven songs at The Living Room in New York, N.Y. during last year’s CMJ here.
