Song Premiere: CHAPPO - “What Are You Kids On?”

You might have heard of Brooklyn’s CHAPPO from one of Apple’s iPod Touch commercials or from our List of the Day honoring the 20th anniversary of Nirvana’s Nevermind. If you’re really hip, you’ve probably already been jamming to CHAPPO’s two EPs, Plastique Universe and Plastique Universe II, which came out in 2010 and 2011, respectively.

On May 15, the psych-pop quartet is ready to release its debut full-length album Moonwater (via Majordomo Records). CHAPPO took inspiration from Native American culture, studying texts and teachings while writing the album. Moonwater leads off with “What Are You Kids On?,” a track that blends spacey bass lines with reverb-drenched guitars and singer Alex Chappo’s memorable, melodic warbling.

Check out the premiere for “What Are You Kids On?” below and be sure to catch CHAPPO on tour the rest of February and at SXSW next month.
