Watch Four More Videos from Lost in the Trees' Web Series

Last week, we brought you the first four clips in our exclusive series with Lost in the Trees, a North Carolinian orchestral-folk band that seriously impressed us with their second album, A Church That Meets Our Needs, earlier this year. Written in the wake of the death of the passing of front man Ari Picker’s mother, the album’s intricate arrangements complement its heartfelt confrontation with heartbreak. Today, we present the second installment of the series: four clips that offer perspective on the band’s surprising (grungy) and not-so-surprising (classical) musical influences.

Ari and Collective Soul
Ari experienced his first “arena rock” concert at the tender age of nine years old—with none other than Collective Soul. Hear him talk about the band’s impact on his lyrical sensibilities in the clip below.

Ari Talks About Classical Music
This clip shows Picker speaking about another musical influence close to his heart, one you might more easily guess from the band’s orchestral tendencies.

UCLA Symphony
Watch Picker’s reaction and observations after seeing the UCLA symphony perform this year.

“Some Kinda Hate” (Misfits Cover)
In this short clip, the band kicks back and jams out to an angsty tune from horror-punk founding fathers The Misfits.
