Song Premiere: Cody ChesnuTT - "That's Still Mama"
Neo-soul crooner Cody ChesnuTT is coming back out of musical hibernation with “That’s Still Mama,” a single off his forthcoming Kickstarter-funded Landing on a Hundred. The LP is his first full-length since 2002’s The Headphone Masterpiece.
The song commands attention from the opening moments, with energetic horns and drums driving the melody forward and serving as a complementary background to ChesnuTT’s slick, confident voice.
“This body of work is extremely meaningful to me because it represents the journey I have been on since I last released an album,” ChesnuTT said in his Kickstarter video. “To give you a little history about this record, it was recorded in Memphis, Tenn., at Al Green’s old studio, Royal Studios. It was also recorded in Cologne, Germany, at a studio by the name of SuPow which is owned and run by a great friend of mine, the co- producer of the album, Patrice Bart-Williams.”
ChesnuTT’s Kickstarter has a goal of $20,000 to be raised by Aug. 16. Investors can choose different gifts based on the amount they pledge, including signed merchandise, digital PDF files of lyrics, t-shirts and lithographs of the album artwork.
Landing on a Hundred is set for release this October, provided that ChesnuTT’s Kickstarter goal be reached. Pledge to the Kickstarter and download “That’s Still Mama” here.
