Video Premiere: Freelance Whales - “Locked Out”

August 3, 2012  |  1:00pm

The Freelance Whales consider themselves collectors. They’re a band that hunts down instruments, ghost stories and dream logs, incorporating all these seemingly unrelated elements into their music.

The indie-rock quintet began in 2008 through Craigslist connections and mutual friends. Judah Dadone, Doris Cellar, Chuck Criss, Jacob Hyman and Kevin Read released their debut album, Weathervanes, in 2009. Their follow-up album, Diluvia, is set to come out on Oct. 9.

You can check out the video for “Locked Out” below. Freelance Whales, known for their lighthearted vocals and eclectic instrument use, showcase their talents in this video—which shows footage of their rehearsal, the band hanging out and working on several different parts together.
