Song Premiere: Rubblebucket - "Oooh Wa"

On Sept. 11, spirited Brooklyn-based dance rockers Rubblebucket will be releasing a new, five-song EP titled Oversaturated. The album follows the band’s acclaimed 2011 LP, Omega La La, which was recorded with DFA producer Eric Broucek (LCD Soundsystem, Cut Copy, Hercules and Love Affair).

“(Focus) Oversaturated emerged from one of those magical moments when you sit down and the music just comes out,” said trumpet player Alex Toth. “We were in the middle of lots of touring so we had to squeeze songwriting and production into tiny blocks of time. I think the title describes how we were feeling 24/7 at the time. Based on the initial scrap of inspiration [bassist] Jordan Brooks programmed the beat with his SP1200 drum machine, and we had a lot of fun working on it as a band in the studio, letting our imaginations run wild.”

One of the record’s standout tracks is “Oooh Wa,” which features spacey synths, proclaiming horns and the upbeat vocals of frontwoman Kalmia Traver. Have a listen below.
