Song Premiere: The Amazing - “Flashlight”

From Abba to the Hives to Lykke Li, Sweden has a long tradition of exporting musical outfits friendly to American ears. The Amazing aim to follow suit with their first U.S. release, Gentle Stream, and if new track “Flashlight” is any indication, they’re well on their way.

Sounding more like late 60s psychedelic folk than anything that could be considered Swedish, “Flashlight” channels Crosby, Stills & Nash in a way that’s both relaxing and refreshing, including wispy vocals, flute flourishes, and a subtle sax solo. It seems that the most successful indie acts to come out of Sweden in recent memory have wholly adopted a distinctly American style, one example being Tallest Man On Earth and his Dylan-inflected folk. With a throwback California sound that’s hard to overlook, The Amazing could be next in line to make it stateside.
