Video Premiere: Chris Cohen - "Optimist High"

Chris Cohen isn’t new to music, though his name might be new to you. Between 2002 and 2008 he released 10 full-length albums with the likes of Deerhoof and The Curtains, and toured with Cass McCombs and Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti.

He reflected on those years of experience when he headed to rural Vermont to record his first solo album, Overgrown Path. Every lyric and instrument on the nine-track collection was written and recorded by Cohen himself.

The video for the first single, “Optimist High,” reflects this hands-on approach as Cohen plays drums in an open field and interacts with nature. The album doesn’t come out until Sept. 25, but you can check out the exclusive video premiere of “Optimist High” and upcoming tour dates below.
