After an excellent debut album filled with desolate, western-tinged guitar lines and Molly Hamilton’s haunting, melancholy vocals, Widowspeak have announced the release of their sophomore album, Almanac, which will be out Jan. 22 on Captured Tracks.
They’ve already released the first single, “Ballad of the Golden Hour,” and now we have the premiere of the second taste of what to expect from their new LP. Almanac’s second single, “The Dark Age,” has more instrumental gusto than most of what we’ve heard from the Brooklyn duo; but, of course, it’s leavened beautifully by Hamilton’s ethereal, dream-like voice.
