After celebrating a decade and a half of critical acclaim for his masterful songwriting and passionate performances, it seems Denison Witmer has realized the weight of his own name. Witmer’s forthcoming album, his ninth to date, is a self-titled LP that features a far more autobiographical tone than many of his beloved previous releases.
Witmer’s creative process has evolved in part thanks to his co-ownership of The Honey Jar, a recording studio in Brooklyn. Flexibility with his time in the studio has allowed Witmer to employ the ears of friends like Sufjan Stevens and Rosie Thomas, creating a rich collaborative atmosphere and fostering a recording environment capable of mimicking the pace of his songwriting.
