Nashville-based musician James Wallace has a penchant for storytelling, and although he’s co-written with Abigail Washburn and toured extensively, his forthcoming release with band The Naked Light has endured several obstacles along the way.
Wallace originally recorded More Strange News From Another Star for a project involving a monthly cassette tape series after being approached by a small, now-defunct record label in China. Enlisting friend and musician Matthew E. White as producer, Wallace wrote and recorded the record only to ultimately discover that the Beijing label had dissolved.
After returning to the US, Wallace’s music fell upon the right ears in Richmond, Va. and earned the tunes a shot at a larger audience. Thanks to Daniel White and Richmond’s Dialogue Records, James Wallace & The Naked Light’s More Strange News From Another Star is set for release on April 30, digitally and on vinyl. The record maintains folk undertones while employing a complex, multi-instrumental sound that makes the record unique.
