Scott Tournet may have already played to enormous crowds as the guitarist for Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, but don’t be surprised if he’s center stage the next time you catch him in concert.
Tournet has recently announced his debut solo album VER LA LUZ, and although it’s somewhat of a departure from the albums he recorded with the Nocturnals, his earthy vocals and refined sound maintain the same high standards. Beyond just the vocals and guitar, Tournet was intricately involved in the final product, producing the album himself and playing several instruments. The record features several guests, too, from drummer Austin Beede (Alberta Cross) to fellow Vermont musicians Lowell Thompson and Kelly Ravin. Nocturnals fans will be content to know that Potter contributed to the songwriting on two tracks, too, even singing a duet on one tune.
VER LA LUZ is due out on May 14, but you can listen to the first track from the album, “Lights Go Down,” in the player below.
