Video Premiere: Preservation Hall Jazz Band & Jim James

May 7, 2013  |  10:30am

The Preservation Hall Jazz Band has a rich history spanning half a century, but long-time fans finally have an album of original content to anticipate this summer.

That’s It! was recorded at Preservation Hall and was produced by My Morning Jacket’s Jim James (who has collaborated with PHJB in the past) along with Ben Jaffe. Every song on the LP is a new composition, which marks the band’s first LP of original songs in the band’s 50-year career.

Now, in addition to releasing the first track on the album, the band has released a behind-the-scenes video on the making of That’s It!

“This is a living and breathing tradition,” says Jaffe in the video. “This isn’t something that’s hanging on the wall in a museum.”

Check out the video below for commentary on That’s It! from Jim James, Jaffe, and other contributors to the album in the player below. That’s It! is set for release on July 9 via Legacy Recordings.
