Live from Newport Folk 2012: Preservation Hall Jazz Band

July 17, 2013  |  1:00pm

As we find ourselves right in the middle of festival season, Newport Folk Festival is just around the corner. For the third year in a row, Paste will be on-site with our friends at Sennheiser, recording stripped-down video sessions with festival artists at the Paste Ruins.

When Preservation Hall Jazz Band released their first album of original material That’s It last week, it reminded us of this standout performance at Newport Folk Fest 2012 for a number of reasons. The band has a musical history that spans almost as long as the festival’s 55 year background, and the band worked with 2013 Newport Folk lineup member Jim James as one of the the album’s producers.

Check out Preservation Hall Jazz Band’s performance of “A Good Gal Is Hard To Find” live from the Paste Ruins in the player below. Single-day tickets for Newport Folk Festival are still available via the festival’s website.
