As we at Paste ready our red, white and blue for July 4th, we’re just beginning to gear up for another kind of great American tradition. The end of this month will mark the 55th Annual Newport Folk Festival in Fort Adams, R.I. The festival, which remains a non-profit organization, has built a solid reputation over the past half-century for hosting legendary performances and collaborations from new and established musicians, and with a lineup that includes Beck, The Avett Brothers, Feist and more, this year is sure to continue the standard of excellence.
One of the more unique draws for Newport Folk is the fact that in many cases, artists return to the festival multiple times as their careers continue to blossom. From Dawes to The Low Anthem, repeat attendees shouldn’t be surprised to see a band that once played a smaller stage return to Fort Adams in subsequent years for a much larger audience. This year, we were happy to see that Spirit Family Reunion is back on the lineup. Take a look back at their performance live from the Paste Ruins last year as they perform “I’ll Find A Way.”
Single-day tickets for Newport Folk Festival are still available for Friday, July 26 and can be purchased at the festival’s website.
