Each year Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival becomes the seventh-largest city in Tennessee for just one weekend, welcoming an influx of music lovers to the farm in Manchester. But Bonnaroo is far from the only cultural hub in the state, even for that mind-blowingly memorable weekend in June. Just an hour down the highway lies Nashville, whose reputation for cranking out radio-friendly country music is only the beginning of the sonic delight that the city has to offer.
We were lucky enough to host a few fine musicians on our back porch in East Nashville, catching some one-of-a-kind performances as the artists made their way to Bonnaroo. California band He’s My Brother She’s My Sister came over straight from the airport, bringing their impassioned vocals, tap-dancing drummer and colorful band to the porch just as the fireflies began to come out. A band that clearly thrives in a live setting, they even recently released a Noisetrade sampler highlighting a few choice live recordings. Watch for youself, and check out the band performing “Let’s Go” live in Nashville. Directed by Peter Lockhart
