You could know Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Kevin Devine from any number of places. In addition to an illustrious solo career and performances as Kevin Devine and the Goddamn Band, Devine was on the radar late last year as one-half of duo Bad Books with Manchester Orchestra’s Andy Hull. Now, Devine is one again giving fans new content to fawn over with two albums, Bubblegum and Bulldozer, set for release later this fall.
The forthcoming dual release was funded by a Kickstarter campaign Devine began earlier this year. As usual, Devine’s fans blew away expectations, raising over $100,000 and claiming the title as the12th largest Kickstarter project to date. You can’t blame them for being supportive: the concept for each album is pretty distinct, with Bulldozer to feature Devine’s solo work with producer Rob Schnapf (Elliott Smith, Guided By Voices) and Bubblegum to be recorded with the full band.
Although devoted Kickstarter supporters already had their first taste of the forthcoming album, you can listen to Devine’s new track “For Eugene” in the player below. Bubblegum and Bulldozer are set for release on Oct. 15, and you can view Devine’s upcoming tour dates here.
