It’s been a while since we had new music from The Cardigans, but frontwoman Nina Persson has nonetheless stayed busy. Since Persson began work with side project A Camp in 2001, she has continued to flourish outside of her beloved work with the Cardigans and is now set to release debut solo album Animal Heart next month.
“The most difficult, yet perhaps the most positive aspect of going solo are all the decisions you have to make alone,” says Persson in a recent press release. “Somewhere inside, I have a very clear clock, a gut feeling, that says what I think. I have forced myself to just keep going and follow my instincts with this album.”
In anticipation of Animal Heart, Persson has shared one of her favorite tracks from the album, “Food for the Beast.”
“I was scared of the song until I became obsessed by it,” said Persson of the fiery track, which features her recognizable vocals and a pulsing beat.
