Song Premiere: Lee Bains III & The Glory Fires - "The Company Man"

March 3, 2014  |  10:00am

Lee Bains III & The Glory Fires, Alabama-based up-and-comers and recent SubPop signees, have announced their label debut Dereconstructed. A fitting follow-up to 2012’s excellent There is a Bomb in Gilead, fans can already get a taste of the new LP with the album’s first single, “The Company Man.”

“This song was born of one Birmingham afternoon, shuffling a deck of sun-speckled cards, seated at my grandmother’s breakfast table, listening to the low murmur of her warm drawl on Martin Luther King Jr. Day,” Bains said. “And of an Atlanta night, watching kids, encircled by a silent ring of police, chant against the Koch brothers under the glowing specter of skyscrapers bearing signs that shouted, in luminescent discord: ‘Equitable’ and ‘Georgia-Pacific.’”
